SoKat was awarded an 8(a) sole source award by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to design and build the SoKat Suicide Ideation Engine (SSIE) to support the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL). Currently, the VCL is being supported by an antiquated rules-based system, resulting in over 90% false positive rate. Our SSIE, which is an Artificial Intelligence-based model, will apply natural language processing to improve Veteran message triage for the VCL. In addition, our SSIE is the first GPT-based large language model to be built and hosted on an internal VA platform.
